Halal Food Labels

Travellers and regular diners throughout Australia will start to see a range of Halal Food Labels appearing at the entrance of Restaurants, Food Areas, Supermarkets and other outlets across Australia. These labels are issued to members that are listed with the Halal Food Directory to place in a convenient location to show the Halal Consumer that suitable food is available.

Australia maintains a strong position when supporting Halal Consumers overseas through the export market. This is heavily regulated and controlled by a number of Halal Certified Authorities and Government Authorities.

While maintaining the same process to inform and support the Halal Consumer within Australia has been challenging. In the absence of a Domestic National Standards the team and the presence of growing number of localised Halal Certifiers the team from Halal Food wanted to support consumers with a change.

We wanted to present information about suitability of a Restaurant easily at a glance rather than tirelessly approaching and asking range of questions to identify if a Venue is suitable or not. These labels will be enhanced in the near future with QR Codes that can easily be scanned to show the Halal Certification Authority and details of the Venue and many more exciting things...

Halal Food Label (Standard)

Participating Members are given the option once reviewed by our team to consider whether they want our Halal Food Label or the Standards Label (Gold, Blue, Grey) which they are eligible for.

So where you see our Halal Food Label at the entrance of the Restaurant you can be assured that they cater to the Halal Consumer.  It is important to consider gathering your own information and we would suggest that any consumer ask the questions to satisfy their own standardsas there may be aspects of service which may be of concern. (ie Alcohol Service, Halal Meat Supply etc)

The distinctive Gold Border and Gold Label identifies the Member as a Premium Venue. This means that the member maintains the highest standards at all times and is recognised as being fully aware of the needs of Halal Consumers and will comply with those requirements.

To achieve this status they are required to demonstrate compliance to a number of strict conditions:

1. Halal Certified or Responsible Muslim Owner

2. No Alcohol on site

3. No Pork products on site

4. Halal Certified Supply Chain (Meats)

5. Undertaking of Quality Control and Compliance

6. Maintains a Halal Policy that covers Food Storage, Food Preparation and Food Service

Halal Food (Blue)

The Halal Food Blue label is the most popular of the Labels in the Australian market. This label is issued to those Members of Halal Food that meet a number of requirements to comply with this standard.

It is important to note that compliance can be achieved where a participating restaurant complies with either Condition (2) or Condition (3) for example the venue has no pork products but serves alcohol

1. Halal Certified or Responsible Muslim Owner

2. No Alcohol on site

               or

3. No Pork Products

4. Halal Certified Supply Chain (Meats)

5. Undertaking of Quality Control and Compliance

.

To achieve this status they are required to demonstrate an awareness of Halal requirements and the Halal Consumer needs:
